The Project

The Shop is a service of the Prat de Llobregat Town Council and managed in an innovative way through delegated management with ABD and Espigoladors .

The aim of the project is to guarantee the fundamental right to a healthy and sustainable diet for the population of Prat de Llobregat.

Our story

The origin of the project goes back to 2012 when Punt Solidari was born, a city project with the aim of minimizing the impact of the economic crisis of 2008.

Seven years later and after a process of internal reflection with the entities of the territory, the people who use the service and professionals in the social field, the project was renewed and reinvented to take a step forward in the transformation of the Systems of Traditional Food Distribution .

In June 2021 La Botiga is born: a new distribution model in response to traditional food distribution strategies, based on community empowerment, sustainability and the social economy, which favors collaborative work, autonomy and the employment of people at risk of exclusion.

NETWORK

La Botiga is part of several local networks and international projects that allow us to work together and share sustainable and resilient food models for our territories, based on a global understanding of the challenges and a local approach to them.

Prat Alimenta: Food Strategy of Prat de Llobregat

Prat Alimenta is a project promoted by the Prat de Llobregat City Council and the Espigoladors Foundation which aims to mobilize the municipality’s agents related to the agri-food system to build a SAT (Territorialized Food System) in a participatory way. The strategy includes the deployment of two flagship projects (one of which is La Botiga) and multiple collaborations and seed projects between the different agents, as well as a participative governance model adapted to the municipality and the constitution of an interdepartmental group within the Ajuntament del Prat to ensure the centrality and transversality of the territory’s food policies.

EU Food Security HUB (Erasmus+)

The project aims to scale and replicate across Europe good practices and innovative methodologies to tackle food insecurity and promote sustainable and socially inclusive food and agricultural ecosystems, as well as generate a common framework at European level that encourages organizations, institutions and public administrations to address the challenge of food insecurity from a sustainable and socially inclusive approach.

The added value of the project is related to its potential to support the transformation of regional, national, European and global food systems, making them safe, sustainable, healthy and resilient, while increasing social opportunities for vulnerable groups through the training

Global Districts (DEAR)

The European project focuses on critical citizenship education to promote wider inclusion and participation of European youth in local and global challenges. Through this initiative, the project promotes co-responsibility in sustainable development and aims to improve the skills of young people and involve them in attention to global inequalities and sustainable challenges, while at the same time col· works with disadvantaged urban-rural communities.
